Cindy Hildebrand

Cindy Hildebrand grew up in southeast Michigan and has lived in Story County since 1977. She is a former volunteer conservation lobbyist for the Iowa Audubon Society, and worked on the Iowa Resource Enhancement and Protection Program and the Iowa Groundwater Protection Act. She is a co-founder of the Iowa Prairie Network, and has served on numerous conservation and land-use committees.

Cindy and her husband Roger Maddux live on an acreage southeast of Ames, where they have planted diverse, local-ecotype prairie areas with more than 100 species. They own other land in central Iowa with native remnant prairie, reconstructed prairie, and oak savanna, and are working to manage and restore it.
