Craig Hempy

Craig Hempy began working as a Soil Conservationist in Story County November 30, 2006. Craig first worked for NRCS in 1999 as a District Employee in Tama County, and was hired full time as a Soil Conservation Technician and then Soil Conservationist for Jasper County. Just prior to being assigned to Story County he was detailed to Poweshiek County for 1 year as a District Conservationist to replace the District Conservationist while he was serving in Iraq with the National Guard. He is still involved in a farming operation in Tama County with his brother. They have a commercial cow herd, raise corn, soybeans and hay, and 200 acres of CRP. Craig received his B.S. in Ag Business from Iowa State. He is married to Donna and resides on a farm 10 miles east of Marshalltown. He has 2 married daughters and 3 grandchildren.
