Through a federal Environmental Protection Agency 319 grant the Ada Hayden
Watershed Project is able to offer producers and landowners within
the watershed cash incentives to practice nutrient management, install
waterways, sediment control basins, and grade stabilization structures.
These practices will be treated just like a state cost-shared project.
Nutrient Management Plans will be planned according to current soils tests
results. There will be a $5/acre incentive year 1 and a $3/acre incentive
year 2. The third year is up to the producer for review and compliance with
the NMP.
There are also cost share incentives to install waterways, sediment control
basins, ponds and wetlands. These incentives are 75% cost share of the
estimated cost of the project. For the urban portion of the watershed we are
offering cost share for rain gardens, or vegetated swales to be built and used
as demonstration sites for the public. If there are any critical areas out
there that you have a question about please contact us at the USDA Service
Center 515-382-2217.
