Low-interest loans available for stormwater management practices.
The Iowa Water Quality Loan Fund has announced that low-interest loans are now available to private and public entities for implementing environmentally responsible strategies for post-construction stormwater management on larger developments.
Eligible best management practices are identified in the Iowa Stormwater Management Manual, Chapter 2 D-L. These practices include infiltration practices, bio-retention systems, soil quality restoration, native landscaping, sand filters, detention practices, stormwater wetlands, vegetated swale systems, pervious pavement systems, and turbidity removal.
Developers, businesses, organizations and non-MS-4 cities may use this loan program. MS-4 cities should apply through the Clean Water State Revolving Fund Program.
The application process is coordinated through Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) offices. All projects must have approval before proceeding to financing.
The minimum loan amount is $5000. Loans will be made through participating lenders or directly by the Iowa Finance Authority. Maximum interest rate is 3% with terms up to twenty years and no penalty for pre-payment.
